What do the most successful websites all have in common?

They are popular, and because they are popular, they have a lot of different people visiting them every day.  What makes them popular?  News-type websites are some of the most visited on the net.  Why are they popular?  It’s because people know that when they visit a news website, even if they visit every day, or even several times a day: they will see new and different things But when you visit one of these websites, did you notice how long you stayed?  If you are like me, not long unless I see a particular story that catches my attention, and makes me want to know more.  Otherwise I scan the page, and then move on.   What am I really looking for?

Content.

Something that grabs my attentions and makes me want to read more. The most successful websites are those that always have fresh content, or those that have so much content, that you will always find what you want.  Sites like CNN or Wikipedia are great examples.  CNN always has new content, and Wikipedia has so much content that you can always find something new-to-you.

What is content? Content is information, pure and simple.  The most successful websites provide information, and provide it in such a way that it catches our attention.

Content, good high quality, highly engaging information, is the thing that the most successful websites have, and it is what far too many mediocre websites do not have.

When you decide to build your own website, you (of course) want it to be one of the most successful websites.  So know ahead of time that you will have to provide high quality, unique information in order to rise to the top.   That is what the most successful websites know, and most others do not. As humans, we spend our lives learning.  This is why cable channels like the travel channel, and the history channel, and the food network are so popular.  These networks have found their own niches, and bring good, high quality information to their viewers.  Their viewers tune in to watch and learn. What all forms of media, all of them, what they do is supply us with content, with information.

We have a need to learn, and they feed the need. Information is our lifeblood.  Consider that for a bit.   Without new, relevant information, would you watch the evening news?  Would you sit through a television program that was absolutely nothing more than back-to-back commercials?

Nope.

Would you buy a newspaper or magazine that had nothing but ads?

Probably not.

Content, good quality information, is absolutely required if you want your website to be one of the most successful websites.

You must provide that content in an engaging manner.  Most people scan a website to see what it has to offer.  If they don’t see anything that catches their eye, they will be gone in an instant.  This means you have to break things down to short paragraphs, have bold type explaining the different parts of your content (to draw the eye), and provide relevant pictures and images to keep the reader happy and engaged.  Just think of the more popular magazines, and how they do their layout, because in reality, what you are doing is publishing an on-line magazine.
If you want your readers to come back more than once, you have to be able to do this over and over…maybe not daily, but on a regular basis.  Your readers have to know that they can come back and find something new.

You have to feed the need.

SEO = Search Engine Optimization,  it refers to how a website developer designs their sites in order to increase their websites rankings in the search engines:  SEO is not hard.

SEO is not hard: What is good SEO?

Having good SEO means that your site ranks as high as possible, preferably at the number 1 spot on the biggest search engine:  Google.  The reason why you are hearing about SEO, is that it can help you gain lots of the traffic that comes to search engines such as Google.

When people search for something on a site like Google, they tend to click on the first two or three of the top returns, to see if it gives them what they want. Click-trough’s drop off quickly as you go further down the Google main page.   Google is always trying to give their customers what they want, so they strive to have the best information at the top of the page. Often, if you look for the same search term, you can see the posts changing position, sometimes several times in the same day.

Since SEO is not hard, what makes SEO work?

People who claim to know about SEO are often going off of what they have seen, heard, or been taught.   Google rarely tells how they figure out where pages should be ranked, they know that there are people out there all too ready to “game” the system.

There are things we have been able to piece together about SEO, all through trial and error.

We know Google looks at how often the site is visited, how long people stay on the site and look around, relevant content, relevant keywords, etc. “Good SEO” firstly involves the placement in the URL when possible, the title of the content piece, and the content itself. People (other sites) linking to your site is a “biggie” also; it acts like a good vote from other people telling Google that your site has “good stuff”.

So now that I have shown you that seo is not hard, and given you a good taste of the beginning, bare-bones of SEO, what next? Now it’s time for you to continue learning on the subject.  SEO is not hard; you just have to be exposed to it.

Remember:  Free traffic is the best!  Just think of all of those businesses paying big bucks in advertising, just to get people to view whatever it is they are selling.  If they had a place on the web, and did their SEO correctly, they would be astonished at the hundreds or thousands of visits their site might have every day, for free!!!!!   (Free is good!)

It’s an amazing thing.

Yes, yes it is.

Now you need to look for someone to take you by the hand and show you what you need to know.  This someone needs to feed it to you in small bites so you can get all the goodness from each morsel.  (JUst remember, SEO is not hard, it is just another skill to learn.)
You need to find a teacher that lets you read, lets you look over their shoulder while they are showing you how to do things. A teacher that has a place you can go ask the questions you think are silly, and have them answered by people who are once where you are now.

SEO is not hard; it has just been made to sound hard by people who wanted to look important.  It made people think that they didn’t have a chance of learning it on their own, so they never tried. So I remember back when I was in school, one of the best pieces of advice I was ever given was “Stay away from Redheads!”

KIDDING! (I ended up marrying one….)

Actually, it was to look at something, and decide if it looks REASONABLE. If you are looking at something, and it doesn’t looks reasonable, it’s wrong, or broke, or false, or whatever.

But, if you look at it, and it looks reasonable, it’s probably okay.

This was one of the hardest things for me to put into action in the Internet Marketing world. I KNOW you are hitting the same thing I did, and still am….all of the junk that hits your e-mail box that promises INSANE profits for little or no work. You know what I mean, “Push Button” this, and “Underground” that, and “Backdoor” whatever….all telling you that they made $215,739.98 in just the last month! Well, you know what? They probably did, if they found enough people to buy their program at $49.95!!

So let’s put this to the: “Is this reasonable?”test. Now if someone REALLY knew how to make that kind of money that fast, they would hide that secret and make it work for themselves…okay, maybe they would let their favorite family member and their closest childhood friend in on it, BUT THAT’S IT! If they did get tired of making all that money, and decided to sell the knowledge/rights/system, they sure wouldn’t ask $49.95!! It would quietly go on the upper-scale auction block with a starting bid well into 7 figures!

That’s one of the things that attracted me to Bring The Fresh. They make no claims about your getting to make 6 figures a month with no work, but they do say they can teach you how to make $50 to $100 a day….more after that if you just continue repeating the process.

Now THAT makes sense to me. Learn how, build a profitable website, put in the work, get rewarded. The more work, the more effort, the more learning,the more profitable websites,  the more $$’s.

Hi, My name is Mitch, and my credit cards all like “BRIGHT SHINEY THINGS!”, at least I THINK that has been the problem.  It must be, because every time one of the “guru’s” came anywhere near me with a new-looking “Bright Shiny Thing”, it seemed my credit card jumped out of my wallet like it had a mind of it’s own. So I buried my cards deep…..hoping that the next ‘Bright Shiny Thing” would be past me and gone before they could find their way into my hand…..told myself I wasn’t going to waste any more money. (Kind of like when you take a little too long to find your kids the money, and the ice-cream-truck has already gone past your house and rounded to corner……Don’t look all shocked! You KNOW you’ve done it too!)

Then  I was pointed in the right direction  by a guy named Travis Sago.   All of the stuff Travis had taught had been good…made sense, resonated with me, wasn’t “over my head”.  I looked forward to anything new he put out, because I knew I was was going to learn something I needed.

Now Travis was telling me:  “Look over here!  Lookie what I found!”

So I did. 

What I found was a GREAT program, put out by a couple of guys that have been around, but to a certain extent, in the background, who were willing to teach people who wanted to, NEEDED to learn.   A start to finish written guide…….over-their-shoulder videos as they SHOW you what to do.  Keyword Searches in front of your eyes, while they explain the how’s and whys.   Website creation RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU (Don’t know how?   Do what they do, click by click!)  All the while it’s all making sense!  You know that if you do what they say you will end up with a Profitable Website!

And do you know what they are teaching you?

They are teaching you how to get all “sexy”  for GOOGLE….’cause if google likes you, they are going to put you on the front page….and that means you are going to get free-traffic to the site that they just showed you to put up!

We are talking HOURS of videos….from the “Do this, now this…” type of video, to the “how and why we did this” behind the scenes type of video.
